About the CMCI Studio
It has been one week since the beginning of class, and the courses of this program are all new and exciting to me. In this semester, I take four classes about leadership, code making, design experience and User experience. Before this project, I thought I would never be a designer again. I like painting, I like color and I like communicating with clients through design.
In the leadership class, I try to understand what is the leadership and how could I be a leader in the future. I used to think that leadership meant having a sense of responsibility and an ability to control others. I dare not to be a leader, because I am not used to “controlling” others and prefer to be a follower. When I take the class, I find that everyone can be a leader. We did a lot of exercise to discuss what characters should a leader have. I think that a leader need to listen to others patient, need to guide to people into a right direction and need to respect everyone. I want to guide a group into a good direction and to get the success, but I was afraid to be a leader in the past. Since I took the class, I start to open myself and try to say more, do more and promote my brave. I think everyone can be a leader, as long as they have ideas, dare to put forward their own ideas and stick to it.
Another interesting thing for me is the first follower. In an activity, the bravest and most thoughtful person is the second person. Because of the second person (the first follower), the first person who stands out becomes a leader. The first follower needs courage to support, but also needs wisdom to think how to bring more people.
Then, the most most challenging class for me is CM studio. We learn to build a website and do the web deign by using the code. I have studied code in my undergraduate study. When I was in class, I found the code very difficult, and it made mistakes every now and then. Some designs are already in your head, but they can’t be turned into code. Making a code likes building a house, I need to build a general framework first. Head, header, body and footer. Then, filling the information into the house. Putting the title in the head and introduction into the body. Making sure what kind of information should put into which floor. Then, after putting everything into the building, we can do the design work. We can change the size, color and font of text. We also can add the sound into the website.
Although there are many difficulties and challenges for me, I still enjoy this class and find the fun of this class. Code will also be very important in future work, and it will be used in many places. In addition, Code exercises are good at exercising our thinking and brain, because we need to think the project out step by step. To make their own logic down, no jump. In this way, the occurrence of mistakes can be reduced. At the end of the class, I hope that I can make my personal website and put all projects together. It can be a good portfolio.
Hi, Design and User experience. This is probably my favorite and most curious class. When I was an undergraduate, I heard about interaction design. From my understanding of design at the beginning to how to communicate with customers with my own design, I gradually became more and more interested in interaction design. I went from graphic design (poster design, newspaper layout, etc.) to interactive design for the first time. For the first time, I heard responsive and adaptive design, and it was also the first time that I really started from the perspective of customers’ needs. These things are challenging for me. I also try to access to some new softwares, such as XD and Invision. I can use these tools to create wireframe and make my idea into the prototype.
If design is a journey, then I am walking on this road at the starting point, along which I can see a lot of beautiful scenery. On the way, I will meet many like-minded friends. On this road, I may stop and go, but I will not give up. I hope that, no matter how it ends, the trip will have a perfect ending.
